Blog Tour: Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa

If you're a fan of the Iron Fey, I don't need to tell you that The Iron Legends, a bind up of the Iron Fey novellas, releases on August 28th. I'm delighted to be part of the blog tour for Julie Kagawa's latest release, hosted by Kismet Book Touring, and share my love of all things Iron Fey. Throughout the tour, blogs will be representing their courts, presenting books in the series and offering readers the chance to win some great prizes.
Winter is definitely the court that has my heart. I love the starkness and the snow-covered, sometimes sinister world of Tir Na Nog. Okay, okay... My adoration might have a lot to do with a certain dark, brooding, recently disaffiliated Winter Prince by the name of Ash.

Yeah, I know. Boys are always a terrible reason to make such big commitments, but... but... ASH.

I think a lot of it started back in 2010 when a group of bloggers and a certain author *cough* goaded me into driving nine hours through snowpocalypse to attend the very first signing for The Iron King. I met other die-hard fans of the series and got some insight into Meghan and the boys. Jokes flew, good-natured rivalries were born, and I've been in the Iron Fey trenches ever since.

But enough about me. I'll let Julie and Ash take it from here...

*Overheard conversation between author and Prince Ash before blog tour.*

"Why must I be the one to do this? I'm not part of the Winter Court any longer."

"Because I couldn't get Mab to agree without freezing my tongue off.  And besides, you know Tir Na Nog and the Winter Court better than anyone else."

"And we're encouraging mortals to explore Tir Na Nog now?  They'll just get themselves eaten or killed or something nasty."

"I'm sure you can think of something.  Come on, Ash.  Do this for me.  Please?"

*Heavy sigh*

And so this guest post was reluctantly written. Thanks Ash!

Very well.  To everyone who is following this blog tour, my name is Ash, formerly of the Winter Court, now Prince Consort and husband of The Iron Queen, Meghan Chase.  I'm supposed to tell you the best places to visit in Tir Na Nog, but I think I'd rather tell you about all the places you don't want to be if you're ever stuck in Winter.  That's not to say that all of Tir Na Nog isn't dangerous; it is.  But these sites are some of the most deadly, and mortals have no business ever being here.

Mab's court:  If you ever find yourself in the palace of the Winter Queen, I do feel sorry for you.  Between the redcaps, the ogres, the goblins, and the other sidhe, you'll be lucky to survive a day.  And of course, there's Mab herself, who is very fond of her ice garden of frozen humans.  Trust me when I say this is the very last place in all of Tir Na Nog that you ever want to be.

The Ice fields south of the Maw: For anyone who is not a Winter Fey, these frozen woods spell certain death for travelers.  The cold here is a living, breathing, malicious entity, and if you fall or stop moving, you will freeze over in seconds and die.  The woods are filled with animals and other creatures who have succumbed to the cold, trapped forever in a prison of ice.

The Frost Giant ruins: Ancient, ice-covered castles are dangerous enough without ancient, ice-covered giants guarding them.  Take my advice and stay far away.

The Wyrmtooth Mountains and Howling Pass:  Ice wyms as large as buses inhabit these mountains, and are highly territorial.   There is a small pass that cuts through the mountains, but it's haunted by a Wendigo with a fondness for human flesh.  It can sometimes be bribed with a human baby or the head of a cow, but you probably don't want to resort to that.

There are other sites I could tell you about--Glassbarrow, the Frozen Bog, Icefell--but now that I think about it, you should probably avoid Tir Na Nog altogether.  The Winter Court is dangerous and inhospitable to humans, and I don't want to hear yet another tale of how some mortal ventured into Unseelie territory and got eaten.  If you do wish to try your luck and brave Tir Na Nog and all its dangers, don't say I didn't warn you.

-Ash

Naturally, Winter's Passage (Iron Fey #1.5) is the book I'm sharing with the world. This novella will be included in The Iron Legends along with Summer's Crossing and the newest Iron Fey novella, Iron's Prophecy.

Winter's Passage by Julie Kagawa Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Harlequin eBook Store

Meghan Chase used to be an ordinary girl...until she discovered that she is really a faery princess. After escaping from the clutches of the deadly Iron fey, Meghan must follow through on her promise to return to the equally dangerous Winter Court with her forbidden love, Prince Ash. But first, Meghan has one request: that they visit Puck--Meghan's best friend and servant of her father, King Oberon--who was gravely injured defending Meghan from the Iron Fey.

Yet Meghan and Ash's detour does not go unnoticed. They have caught the attention of an ancient, powerful hunter--a foe that even Ash may not be able to defeat....

  1. Because I don't like the cold, and I don't really know about Iron...

  2. I chose Iron because in Winter I wish for Summer, and in Summer I wish for Winter. So, Iron's a good middle man. :D

  3. I'm actually on the Iron Court. I feel like I'm too tied to technology to live in other courts. :D

  6. I love the winter because of the cold, but I love the beach and nature (Ex. flowers, trees, etc.). Honestly though, I don’t think I’d be able to live a day without electronics, so I think the Iron Court is my kind of place.

  7. OH MY SWEET ASH! *runs toward him* LET ME LOVE YOU! I just love him so so so much. I may have hugged the cover of The Iron Knight when I got it just because he was on it O_O But fantastic guest post! I don't think I'll ever be going to Winter, especially with Mab and all that o.O But if I do make it into the Nevernever I am soo going into the Iron Kingdom to chase down Ash. Hehe ;)

    1. Luckily, I have a foot in both worlds. I was Iron Court for The Iron Queen release, which kept me from my Ash, but I've always been Winter at heart. :)

  8. Love doesn't even begin to describe what I feel for the Iron Fey series! They're fantablous!!! And Ash...*dreamy sigh*

  9. Well, I chose the Iron court because I love everything about it. They have a fierce yet kind queen, ASH and wonderful technology and with that technology comes the most fascinating and interesting of loyal and royal subjects. They are the court to be and to beat.
I also chose Winter. Why? Because even though it's frightening, it's beautiful. The most amazing (and of course, terrifying) things can be found there. Some of the most spectacular events in the books take place there and most importantly, without Man and Winter, there would be no Ash. It's unthinkable.

  17. I choose winter because I love winter weather. They also don't show their emotions and I'm not a very empathetic person so I would fit in perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I chose Iron because 1) Mab scares me, 2) Tatiana is crazy, 3) Ash lives there, and 4) I can't live without my tech.

  19. I choose Winter court. It's just so peaceful and quiet.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hmmm, I have been Iron, and Summer... you did not quite talk me into Winter... but I am not thinking so much about Summer or Iron now... so Winter... kind of... because your descriptions made me think of cozy knitted pieces and big crocheted throws and warm spiced cider....

    ReplyDelete
  35. Iron. Because of the iron creatures! Though Winter is also tempting, I think it might be a little too cold sometimes even for me, Summer and I would most likely not mesh very well at all. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I chose Summer because of the warm weather!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm choosing Summer because of Puck! I love him and I think I would be too sad if I never saw a butterfly ever again.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I picked the Winter Court because I love how beautiful and yet frightening it is. The faeries there also seem so serious and cruel but that is mostly a front. When they love they love seriously and long. Their love is unflinching.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love Winter because of Ash, and because of all the cool places there.

    Thank you:)
